WELCOME TO THE 2010 SF YOUTH BASEBALL LEAGUE!
The San Francisco Youth Baseball League is a partnership of the San Francisco Police Activities League (SFPAL), F.L.A.M.E. (San Francisco Fire Department) and the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department.
SFYBL was designed to give as much playing time to kids as possible while fostering an appreciation and love for America's pastime. Teams are divided into grade-based divisions: Kindergarten and 1st Grade T-Ball, 1st through 3rd Grade Coach Pitch, and 4th through 8th Grade Player Pitch.
SFYBL is team based. There is no draft where your child is assigned to a different team each season. In SFYBL, your child can play on a team with his/her friends, classmates, etc. season after season.
Unlike other youth baseball leagues, base stealing and leading off are standard in 6th through 8th grade divisions. In addition the diamond sizes for 5th through 8th grade SFYBL divisions are larger (5th - 6th: 50/70, 7th-8th: 54/80) than the 45/60 size used by other youth leagues for the same age groups. We believe these differences better prepare developing baseball players for potential high school baseball should they have the desire.
To qualify to play in the San Francisco Youth Baseball league, a child must either reside in or attend school within the city of San Francisco.
Please note the new bat rules in effect starting with the 2010 season.
